Çalışanlar aralarında konuşuyorlar..Marketi o kadar seviyorum ki(!) orada kalmaya karar veriyorum.Sınav sonuçları açıklanmak üzere..Kasiyer önce google'dan kazandığını öğreniyor.Daha sonrasonucu bildiği halde gelen zarfla teyit etmek istiyor ama yine de ağzıyla gerilim müzikleri yapıyor..

Think about an unimaginable size of library that is squeezed in just one page,only one..You don't have to search the thing you want for hours among the encyclopedias,neither you do need to turn thousands of dusty,irrelevant pages..All you need is to type what you want and one click..

If we heard such definition or advertisement not more than 10 years ago,all we'd do nothing but laugh..

"If it wasn't for the google what would we do ?" I am sure all of you have asked yourself such question if you know how to thank in your regular life..

Isn't it incredible that millions of people click the same site everyday.Almost all of your main page is google ,there is not a day we live without it.How can a thing be such an indispensable part of our lives ?

Whenever you need a contact address,a different place to eat (you may want to see the pics),a flight/hotel reservation,a movie to see,weather forecast,maps and everything,there is one thing in mind, GOOGLE.It is even accepted as a word in contemporary dictionaries now..

Besides the main page there are other alternatives of google such as google books:where you can search and read books online, google maps:where you can search maps,google earth-my favourite-where you can even see the super market or pharmacy on the other side of the world,google analytics:where you can analyze the visitors and sources that visited your website ,google images,google video,google talk..

So,while you are reading this i can go to my analytics and see where you are from,what language you speak,how you found my blog,how long you stayed,what browser you use etc..

Be careful I may knock your door and say "boo" in any approaching moment..

Bence bu gerçekten çok önemli. Evet, normalde,şu anda albüm çalışmaları nedeniyle konser vermiyoruz. Sadece eşyalarımızı toparlayıp çalmak istediğimiz ülkeye karar verebiliriz. İskoçya'nın kuzeyindeki Shatland adalarında ve Iceland'de de konser vereceğiz.

Psychedelic (saykedelik) Türk müziklerinden hoşlandık. Moğollar ve isimlerini telaffuz edemediğim 60'ların sonundan ve 70'lerin başlarından bir kaç grup dinledik.

Replikas'ıdinledim. Şarkıları gerçekten harika. Onları görmek isterdik ancak gelecek haftaya kadar çalmıyorlarmış. Ne yazık ki bu yüzden dinleme şansımız olmayacak.

STRANGE FAQ's

There are a few questions that i have wondered all of my life.. I hadnt made any research about them until now.. I am sure all of you have asked the same questions to yourself at least one time in your life.I hope they will reduce your question marks to some extent..

Here we go..

1-Why do we itch ? What happens under our skin when we itch ?

Itching, also known as pruritus, starts with some kind of external stimuli, including bugs, dust, clothing fibers and hair. Like tickling, itching is a built-in defense mechanism that alerts your body to the potential of being harmed. In this case, it might be the potential of being bit by a bug.

When the stimuli lands on your skin, it may not bother you at first, but soon it will begin to rub back and forth across your skin. Once the hair or dust scratches your skin's surface layer, receptors in the dermis of the skin will become irritated. In a split second, these receptors send a signal through fibers in the skin to your spinal cord and then up to the cerebral cortex in your brain.

The same fibers that send itching signals are also used to send pain signals to the brain, which once led some scientists to believe that itching was a form of light pain. That notion has since been dispelled by research, which showed that pain and itching elicit opposite responses. Pain causes us to withdraw and itching causes us to scratch.

As soon as we feel an itch, our first natural response is to scratch the spot of the itch with our fingernails. The reason for this response is simple -- we want to remove the irritant as soon as possible. Once you've scratched the area of irritation, you are likely to feel some relief. When your brain realizes that you've scratched away the irritant, the signal being sent to your brain that you have an itch is interrupted and therefore no longer recognized by the brain.

Even if you don't remove the irritant, scratching will at least cause pain and divert your attention away from the itching. The irritant that caused the itching is very small, maybe only a few microns in length, so it disturbs only a few nerve endings. When you use your fingernail to scratch the spot where the irritant is, you not only remove the irritant but you irritate a lot more nerve endings than the irritant.

2-Why can't we tickle ourselves ?

So, if someone else's touch can tickle us, why can't we tickle ourselves? Much of the explanation for this question is still unknown, but research has shown that the brain is trained to know what to feel when a person moves or performs any function. We aren't aware of a lot of the sensations generated by our movements. For example, you probably don't pay much attention to your vocal cords when you speak. For the same reason, we can't tickle ourselves. If we grab our sides in an attempt to tickle ourselves, our brain anticipates this contact from the hands and prepares itself for it. By taking away the feeling of unease and panic, the body no longer responds the same as it would if someone else were to tickle us.

3-Why do we get hiccups?

Most of us have experienced hiccups, an uncomfortable, sometimes embarrassing, but usually short-lived experience. But sometimes hiccups persist for a long period of time and can be a sign of serious underlying disease.

What are hiccups?
Hiccups are bursts of inspiratory (breathing in) activity. The muscles we use when we take in a breath are the intercostal muscles situated between the ribs, and the diaphragm — a sheet of muscle below the lungs.

Most simple cases of hiccups come after eating or drinking too much or too quickly. The stomach, which is situated right below the diaphragm, becomes distended and irritates it. This will cause the diaphragm to contract, as it does when we breathe in.

Sometimes hiccups will occur because of a disturbance to the nerve pathways from the brain to the muscles involved. This explains why hiccups may occur with temperature changes or emotional situations. It is also the reason that a sudden shock can sometimes abolish an attack.
Persistent hiccups may signify problems in the brain, spinal cord or any of the structures around the diaphragm or chest wall.

Everyone has their own pet remedy for curing hiccups. Simply holding your breath or dropping 1-2 drops of lemon is often effective.

4-Why do we sneeze?

Once that tingling and twitching starts in your nose, there's no stopping it. A whole-hearted sneeze makes us feel so much better and there's a reason behind it. Sneezing is one of the body's ways of expelling harmful substances that enter our body. The nose works as an air purifier, cleansing the air that enters of bacteria and other particles. So when viruses and bacteria multiply in our nose during a cold, or a cloud of dust blows in our face, or even when we have an allergic reaction, the nerve endings in our nose get irritated and with a blast of air, the nose sweeps its passageways clean.

A sneeze is formed by the spasm of the chest and of the pharynx that connects the esophagus and the nasal cavity. When the nerve endings in the lining of the nose detect the irritating substances, they send impulses to the part of the brain that controls involuntary actions. The brain then sends signals to the chest muscles to squeeze the lungs. The pharynx also shuts to prevent the air being squeezed out of the lungs into the mouth. And so, with a loud blast, the air is expelled through the nose in the form of a sneeze.

Interestingly, some people sneeze when they walk into bright sunlight. It is said that this is a reaction to the ultraviolet rays of the sunlight irritating the nose lining.

5-Why do we yawn ?

THE TRUTH IS that we don’t completely understand why people, or animals for that matter, yawn.

It’s widely assumed that yawning occurs because we are tired or bored or because we see someone else doing it, but there isn’t any hard evidence to support these beliefs.
Scientists do not purport to know all of the biological mechanisms of the yawn, but tend to agree that a yawn is an involuntary respiratory reflex, which regulates the carbon dioxide and oxygen levels in the blood.

Technically, a yawn is the reflex opening of the mouth followed by the deep inhalation and slow exhalation of oxygen.
The very act of yawning is but one of a number of involuntary reflexes controlled by the spinal and nerve centers.

Scientists speculate that the onset of a yawn is triggered either by fatigue, or by sheer boredom as, at those times, breathing is shallow, and little oxygen is carried to the lungs by the oxygen-toting cardiovascular system.
When one yawns, his or her alertness is heightened, as the sudden intake of oxygen increases the heart rate, rids the lungs and the bloodstream of the carbon dioxide buildup, and forces oxygen through blood vessels in the brain, while restoring normal breathing and ventilating the lungs.

This quite plausible theory of yawning falls short of explaining many aspects of yawning. Scientists explain away the "contagious" nature of yawning, that is when one person's yawn triggers another nearby to yawn, as due to the power of suggestion, but are at a loss when attempting to explain why yawning occurs excessively in patients with lower brainstem damage or with multiple sclerosis.

Other unlocked mysteries include why fetuses in the womb yawn, when it is a well-known fact that they do not intake oxygen into their lungs until after live birth, or why individuals with high concentrations of oxygen in their blood streams yawn.

Until these questions are answered, do not assume that a person who yawns in your presence is bored with what you are saying, or suffers from exhaustion. Simply be pleased that he or she is not bored to death.

Sometimes the life feels so strange as if you re looking down from a galaxy or whatever , everything seems like a dot..

We- human beings- are those dots from the uppermost side, how unimportant yet that important..
Details are the least things to be underestimated..
Because dots can complete your unfinished sentences , they can come together and fill huge gaps..
Though one can think how small those dots are from high above we -human beings- are the ones setting up and leading this life.How meaningless would the world be without us.

Lets put the dots to a side but come to one thing that is as important as them.. The Details !
Some people are lucky, yet uncomfortable to realize / see them all while some are so blind that they cant even see..

Little things make big differences.

when i was abroad i once witnessed that the bank was giving out lollipops when you withdraw money or do some other things with your account.It's really a small detail but that can make the costumers happy..
Think about being furious or frustrated after going to the bank because your boss didn't pay all of your overtime.. Once you start licking the lollipop you ll feel a bit more relieved huh?

I don't want to look like a sexist but it s women who are usually taken in by the colorful ads,promotions or "blah blah is our gift" things..

The gift might be $1 cost but can make one pay $5 for that.. ( lets just take magazines giving out sample lipsticks as an example)

You can't eat your favorite sandwich without ketchup,you can't drink soda without a slice of lemon.. How tasteless without details..

You were expecting a BA from your lesson but you got a DC , being sure about the things you've written , you want your paper back to object to it.. Only when you see the red marks on the grammar mistakes,you can realize the worth of the little things..

Open up your eyes for more..

harry potter and the order of the phoenix interview

Last week i made an interview with the actors of "Harry Potter" for Afiş in Ortaköy..
Because of the Premiere of The Order of the Phoenix - the 5th movie of the serie,they were in Turkey..

Who wouldn't like to marry on that date ?
While everyone was lining up to marry on that date Oyku Evren who is a transsexual had her pink lipstick on,cherried her cheeks and put on the whitest wedding dress ever..
Having been in love with Mehmet Ozen for 10 years,she had been through many difficulties since transsexuality is an odd thing in my country Turkey..
I think you all can guess what she had been through,some of you emphatizing with Mehmet's family or relatives,imagining how you would refuse or how hard you would beat your child because he choose to have a relationship with a transsexual..
Can any of you manage to be together with a girl for 10 years ? Erase the zero, that would be what your best is..
The best thing in this story is that Mehmet's father who didnt even know what "transsexuality"stands for had struggled to convince his children not to be with Oyku,met with her after some time.. Returning back from vacation is always sad,this year the rotation was Olympos-on the photo above- which keeps changing and being industrialized more and more every day..
What attracts people is its nature , i may say it used to be , because it s becoming increasingly popular and is seen as a fund now..
Still, i had so much fun ,past my every night on hammock and never stayed in the room , met many great people,took photos and the most important part, i was with my sister whom i hadnt seen a long time because she lives abroad..

People ask me whether my vacation was good or bad..

Hear me everybody , attention please , there s no bad vacation on earth.. Each vacation is good in itself , OK?

It is strongly advised that everyone takes a vacation urgently, i feel much better , relieved and much more productive..

Bir arkadaşımla birlikte İstanbul Arena'ya yolculuğumuzu tamamladıktan sonra arka sıralarda bulunan yerimize sindik.Ne kadar saygısız bir toplum olduğumuzun tasdiklenmesine ramak kalmış meğer o sırada..Sinemada bile 5 dakika geç geldiğimizde salona alınmıyorsan dünyaca ünlü bir operanın ortasından dalmak ne demek ?
İnsanlar boş yerleri gözlerine kestirip kendilerini oradan oraya atarken maestro resmen hareketliliğin durmasını ve diğer şarkıya geçmeyi bekliyor..Bununla da kalmayıp konserin tam ortasında oryantal sesler operaya karışıyor.Güvenlik açığı nedeniyle muzur çocuklarımız duvar tepelerine tırmanıp orkestraya darbukalarıyla eşlik ediyorlar.. Ardından gelen havai fişek sesleri, zırıl zırıl çalan telefonlar,kornalar ve araba alarmları da cabası.

High Heels

I could never learn how to walk with those sexy things in my life.. I don't even remember trying to learn though..

But now it s time that i do ! A friend of mine is getting married, having bought a new red dress i have to complete it with shoes..

I am very well in the realization that they look awfully good in shop windows but when it comes to buy.. uhm so hard!

3 reasonable reasons why i have never owned a high heeled shoe in my life are;

-It doesn't go with my daily life..
-My legs are getting on well with Adidas & Converse
-When i am to think about buying one i compare the price with trainers and finally i say " Instead of buying this and wearing once a year i d rather buy another pair of Adidas and wear it everyday.."

I could escape up until now but i really really need now..
The sad part is they look good on me and i don't even know how to walk with them..
Tomorrow is the shopping day, i ll let you know what happens.

the first fruit of the year

Do you realize how stupidly happy you get when you eat the first fruit of the year ? Well, i do have a stupid smile on my face and i feel extremely excited and happy when i eat the very first one of the year..

I can hardly wait for plumbs to get bigger and i grab them despite the warnings of my friends

- Nooo , dont grab them , let them grow and ripen.. They re too small to eat !

On previous day , I became a monster while eating the very first strawberries of the year during a meal at work.. I did not only clean up my plate but also set my eyes on my friend's..I caught the strange looks thrown on me , of course , while i was sweeping everything..

Yesterday i was at the same friend's home and when i walked into the kitchen at midnight guess what i ve seen ? The nominee Maltese plumbs to be my very first ones..
That tiny little girl -me- became a monster again..
Thank God mum bought some fruit and i m not putting my eyes to another people's plates.. I have my own right now on the right side full of green and maltese plums and some strawberries as well..
I still wonder whether i am the only one that becomes so happy or other people feel the way i do while eating the first fruit of the year..

P.s: Though we can find almost all kinds of fruits at supermarkets in 4 seasons thanks to global warming and hormone injecting issues i am careful about eating them at right time..

Childhood heroes

I guess we can all agree about having a childhood hero,game or a cartoon character who never ceased to impress us even after the game or cartoon was over..You start dreaming to be the main girl/boy of the event and you go on till hear your parents saying
- the dinner/breakfast is ready !
Because our favorite cartoons always seem to be on air right before the main course time =/ what a pity that we didnt even have enough time to dream..
Anyways,while i was surfing from one site to another i just stopped..stopped and stopped more.Terry Grandchester was right there in front of me after many years.. The last time i saw him he didnt even farewell to me !! Okay it didnt matter i could still forgive of course =)
I know i m not in minority to have him as my hero since i had even quarreled with my course teacher about sharing him before entering the uni...Being a 40 year-old woman she was claiming that Terry was her love..And i was 17 !

Look how charismatic Terry is.. he was so when i was 10 and he still is when i am 20 ! Surprising huh?

His shoulder-length hair (we couldnt see such examples a lot,almost all cartoons had short hair),his playing harmonica on the top of trees,his rebellious behaviours,his cloak that he was wearing time to time,his cigarette that he smoked while looking far away..the episode that he kissed Candy, was there any girl not to be affected by these ?

the need

I dont know the reason why i've been craving so much to post a blog today -that need of mine started when i was on my way to work-, allright i m just making an introduction with having no idea of what to write .I know, i know that isn't so cool ..
There are many things to talk about , things usually come out when i m either on my way to somewhere - that isnt so surprising since i spend my 5-6 hours in public transports everyday- or when i m talking to somebody or before sleep.. It is really hard to find a piece of paper and a pen and the thing even harder is to start writing in such situation..
I ve been wanting to write my dreams lets say, i even have some friends who want to draw them.Yes! To draw my dreams , just because they re so strange and creative.. both my friends and my dreams can take those words on ! .. Can you guess how sleepy i am just after when i m woken up by my retarded phone alarm to write the things i ve seen.. The bad things is that the vision of the things i ve seen lose their effectiveness as the time goes by.So when i try to write it in the afternoon or in any other spare time it ll be nothing but trash ! Any objections?
Any any ways..
i am really satisfied now since i wrote something..
Yes , it has been a big relief .. Now that writing a blog doesnt bite my mind any more because i ve just did , already =)

A NEW DEPARTMENT

You' re reading a blogger's page who is working for culture & arts programm instead of world news desk in CNN türk channel from today on.. ( though as an intern =/ )
I had been craving to change my department for a few months since middle east stuff had nothing to do with me and i had nothing to do with it.. People working there on world news desk were all wondering why i was there since i am studying English Language and Literature & i am interested in arts.
Even though i didnt have a clue about Middle East problems and so on at first , i learnt a lot from CNN and from that desk ( of course not the material but people =) in this 5 months..
Lets see what they are ;
-archieving news
-following agencies
-cutting vo
-composing news as vo's
and the typical things one can learn from a working enviroment.
Anyways, i remember the first day i sat down that table , as an intern for the job, as a person who knew nothing about media i was quite bored and felt myself useless. But when i observed the things i had something to do day by day , and when i observed other interns that came after me they were no different than me =)
Today was the first day of my new dept. and it was a bit boring of course but a lot better than my first day in media thing.. At least i know many people from that building and know how to work with the programme.Still i was staring at my old desk whenever i passed from there and even created excuses to go that part of the floor =) i missed my colleagues of course which is the case , i believe , it ll be too hard to find the same atmosphere with that people.
People all say it will be better for me to be in there since i m interested in that field, lets see what happens as the days go by.. :rollingeyes:

TATİL

TDK 'ya göre dilimizde "tatil" kelimesinin üç karşılığı mevcut.

1.Kanun gereğince çalışmaya ara verileceği belirtilen süre,dinlenme.
2.Okul,meclis,adliye vb. kuruluşların çalışmasını durdurduğu veya kapalı bulunduğu dönem.
3.Eğlenmek,dinlenmek amacıyla çalışmadan geçirilen süre.

2. maddenin sayesinde 3. maddedeki eylemleri sürdüreceğime inandığım zaman dilimi olarak kendi tanımımı yapabilirim öyleyse..

Koca bir dönemi ders çalışmadan geçirdim,finallerden tam 1 gün önce yüzlerce sayfa yazıları okumaya niyetlendim , (bkz. sevgili deyimimiz ; yumurta kapıya gelmek/dayanmak) yok artık bu sefer geçemem dedim ama dönemi 1 dersi gazi vererek tamamladım.. Bu da çekirge yine zıpladı demek oluyor =)
İş hayatı okul hayatımdaki tembelliğimin bir bahanesi olarak gözükse de şöyle bir bakıyorum da ı ıh.. değil. İnsan sınırlarını zorlayarak günde 6 saatlik "mini" şehir turlarım toplu taşımacılık konusunda kitap yazdıracak boyutlara ulaşmış durumda.

Ve tekrar tatil kısmına geliyoruz..Önünüzde koca bir ay varsa plan boldur , bazen de en iyi plan plansızlıktır.Yoğun zamanlarda hep "Ah bir tatile çıksam a,b,x,o,c vs.. yapacağım" denir ama tatilin daha ilk gününden önce kendinizi dışarıya atar ardından evde koca bir günü pijamalarınızla bilgisayar ekranı karşısında a,b,x,o,c vs. değil hiç yaparak geçirirsiniz.

"Tatil" tembellik duygusudur,çoğunu yapamayacağınız planlar yapma durumudur,uyumaktan yorulduğunuz zaman dilimidir,rahatlık hissidir..

Söz veriyorum bu tatilde ;

-sevdiklerime zaman ayıracağım
-bol bol film izleyeceğim
-bol bol fotoğraf çekeceğim
-bol bol olmasa da bol okuyacağım(bölüm sayesinde sevdiğiniz şeylerden nefret edebilirsiniz)
-fotoğrafımın tekniğini geliştireceğim
-değişik yemekler deneyeceğim
-interrail olayını iyice bir araştıracağım
-düzenli spor yapacağım
-koca bir günü boş geçirebileceğim
-daha sık yazmaya özen göstereceğim

Her ne kadar iş sayesinde %100 tatilde olmasam da a,b,x,o,c vs yapmaya yetecek kadar zamanım var gibi görünüyor.Evet evet yapacağım ?..
